Jeanne Sutton M.A., LMFT #86044
I am a California licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I hold a Master's Degree in Integral Counseling Psychology from The California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, CA and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from St. Mary's College of Maryland. I offer contemplative individual and group psychotherapy, and transformational coaching. I specialize in helping my clients find emotional freedom, personal growth, self-empowerment, and deepening spiritual development, spanning all areas of life. I operate from a positive, strengths-based, non-pathologizing perspective. My clinical approach is rooted in the non-dual wisdom tradition of Tibetan Buddhism and person-centered psychotherapy. I draw on my many years of clinical experience and in-depth meditation and study to support clients to heal, discover, and flourish, helping them to reclaim their natural born freedom and joy. I work with clients of all spiritual backgrounds.
The guidance that I provide is inextricably linked to the wisdom and inner guide inside each client. In order to support and empower clients, I utilize a variety of modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) a highly researched and validated psychotherapy. ACT is a method in which my clients' own values are identified and clarified and taken on as our compass. Other psychological modalities like Voice Dialogue and Expressive Arts are utilized to develop greater self-understanding, insight, self-love, internal freedom, and flexibility to help clients live and create in the world, empowered and present with an open heart. I also draw on The Work of Byron Katie, which is a powerful tool of inquiry that cuts through the ties of confusion and pain that bind by limiting ones' experience of self and the world. Mindfulness and meditation are the essential ground of presence and self-compassion that support the healing and self-discovery of my work with clients.
I have personally discovered that with the help of a wise guide, through deep personal inquiry, love, mindfulness, and active self-compassion, one can come to experience true freedom. It is by journeying through the heart, having been released from our mind's own confusion into the direct experience of the sky-like nature of our own mind, that one's life becomes free. I bring love, deep-respect, listening, and allowing to each meeting with clients. I am passionate about helping people discover their own wisdom.
